Welcome to the National Reverse Mortgage Appraisers Association.
We are a group of appraisers who demand honor and unimpeachable integrity from each and every member. All appraisers are required to comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, however our members go above and beyond the minimum standards by agreeing to comply with our higher ethics standards and pass a challenging test.
The basic ingredients of professional behavior are a high level of technical competence and unimpeachable integrity. Achieving and maintaining these elements are the responsibility of the individual appraiser. In the appraisal profession, with almost exclusive reliance placed on the opinions or judgements of appraisers, the hallmarks of professional behavior are technical competence, objectivity, and unquestioned honesty or integrity. Certified Reverse Mortgage Appraisers (CRMA) must serve with the highest degree of ethics and standards.
The National Reverse Mortgage Appraisers Association Code of Ethics states the values to which we are committed, and embodies the ethical responsibilities of the profession in this ever changing real estate market.
To become a designated member of the National Reverse Mortgage Appraisers Association and earn their CRMA (Certified Reverse Mortgage Appraiser), each member must pass a challenging exam to demonstrate their comprehension of USPAP, Appraisal standards, FHA standards and basic reverse mortgage issues. In addition, all Certified Reverse Mortgage Appraisers must be in good standing with their state licensing board and the Appraisal Subcommittee.
In recognition and appreciation of our obligations to clients, customers, the general public and each other, our members will continuously strive to become and remain informed on issues affecting real estate appraisals, and as knowledgeable professionals, they are willing to share the fruit of their experience.
When you work with a Certified Reverse Mortgage Appraiser (CRMA), you know you're working with someone who has invested time and effort in learning about the things that are important to you.
Our Code of Ethics
